Ministry: China Didn't Get US Rocket Technology

Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhu Bangzao Thursday reiterated that China did not get help from a US company in developing its low-orbit, solid-fuel engine.

The allegation is groundless, Zhu insisted.

"China developed the Asiasat-2 low-orbit, solid-fuel engine, entirely on its own," Zhu said.

He pointed out that it is beneficial for both China and the US to carry out normal economic, trade and technological exchanges.

The US State Department said on Wednesday that it has fined the Lockheed Martin Corp US$13 million for violating the Arms Export Control Act.

Zhu declined to comment on Lockheed Martin having paid the fine for sharing rocket technology with China, saying it was an internal affair of the United States.
