China's Mining Industry Should Open Further: Expert

China's mining industry should open up more to meet the challenges and opportunities brought by economic globalization, the country's former minister of Geology and Mineral Resources said Friday.

Zhu Xun made the remarks at the ongoing "21st Century Forum", which focuses on topics in economic globalization.

As the mining industry provided 95 percent of the energy resources for the country's development, he said, study of the impact of globalization on China should include the study of this industry.

He suggested that China invite more international capital for non-oil and non-gas resources including gold and silver.

Facing the more-complicated globalization of the mining industry, China should build an orderly market with a favorable environment for international investment, Zhu said.

Encouraging big mining companies to list overseas is an effective way to develop China's mining industry, he said.
