Chinese 4th Seed Yi Reaches 3rd Round

China's top player Yi Jingqian, the fourth seed at the Tashkent Open WTA event, made her third round berth, beating Israeli Hila Rosen in straight sets on Wednesday.

Yi looked in command throughout her second round match and experienced no difficulties in the clash with the 22-year-old Israeli, winning 6-2, 6-2 in just 72 minutes.

Italian Francesca Schiavone, who eliminated top seed and defending champion Anna Smashnova of Israel earlier this week, defeated Nadejda Ostrovskaya of Belarus also in straight sets, making her third round berth at the outdoor hard court of Tashkent tennis stadium.

Russia's Elena Bovina beat another Italian Francesca Lubiani 6-4, 7-6 (7/4) in the last singles' match of the day.
