Civilian Use of Rocket Technology Mulled by Developers in China
Long March Rocket Technology Co. Ltd., China's listed hi-tech developer, will move its headquarters to Wuhan Economic Technology Development Zone, as was revealed by an announcement from the company in the zone on June 15.
A sum of 100 million yuan of investment will be made to set up a research and development center to see to it that military technology achievements be transplanted and used to develop hi-tech civilian products in Wuhan.
Known to people are only 3 aerospace companies that have got listed in the world. With "Long March" included, the other two are American Houston Company and French Ariane Company.����
It is reported that turning military technology into civilian use has been the company's strategic goal apart from being used to a military purpose for defense construction in China.
The center to be established will be used to develop civilian products in such areas as of satellite communication, network application, rocket and satellite precision instruments and meters, space electronic equipment, antenna tracking equipment, GPS and computer monitor and other scientific research. An annual amount of 500 million yuan of profit is to be yielded according to plan by the center in 3-5 years.
