Internet Access Speed to Be Eight Times Faster
The speed to access Internet will be raised at least 8 times, and total Internet users are expected to reach 20 million within this year, said Yin Yiping, head of China Telecom Data Communication Bureau at the Digitalized China Forum held on June 13 in Hong Kong.
Yin said that bandwidth of some domestic IP portal websites will shoot up from 300 MB to 2.5-10G, while Internet international outlet will increase from 700 MB to 1.5 G this year. China Telecom will share out free of charge 10 million CDs which contains 3-hour online time, basic knowledge about network and a series of utility software. Sinohome.com, a main website for family online, has officially been opened to service too.
