Chinese, Hungarian Parliaments Ready to Increase CooperationExchanges between the Hungarian and Chinese governments and parliaments should be further expanded to better understand each other, Vice Chairperson Katalin Szili of the Hungarian National Assembly said Wednesday.Meeting a Chinese National People's Congress (NPC) delegation, Szili said the visit of the delegation shows that China attaches great importance to the development of the Hungarian-Chinese relations. "Fast development and drastic changes taking place in politics, economics and culture in China in recent years and China's increasing role in the world affairs have drawn great attention of Hungary," Szili said. "We both should make more efforts to cooperate with each other on the basis of equality and mutual benefit." She also gave her counterpart Buhe, vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee who led the delegation, a brief introduction to the developments of politics and economics in Hungary in the last few years and the functions of the National Assembly of Hungary. After briefing the host on the role of the NPC, Buhe said the relations between China and Hungary have been steadily strengthened since they established diplomatic relations, especially since the visits to each other countries by the heads of state of the two countries in 1994 and 1995 respectively. "Exchanges between the parliaments of our two countries will give an impetus to deepen understanding, improve friendly relations, increase consensus and cooperation between our two countries," he said.
