Guangzhou Mulling over Construction of "Guangdong Optical Valley"
Since Lucent Technologies Co. hit upon the idea of building "Guangdong Optical Valley" half a year ago a large number of experts specializing in optical study have already been all out in cudgeling their brains over various schemes for the construction of such an optical valley in Guangzhou.
Professor Yu Zhenxin, who is in charge of the Valley Construction Group told that a photoelectronic industry belt with an integrated development of manufacturing with research and personnel training will be set up centering on Guangzhou Science City as manufacturing base and Pearl River Delta as interior. According to plan, an annual sales volume of 300-500 billion yuan worth of photoelectronic products is targeted to bring into being a world-class optical valley in Guangzhou.
Optical communication technology and optical communication software products will be the main products put out from the valley. At the initial stage of construction, the valley will bring in some foreign and domestic well-known enterprises. Meanwhile, Guangzhou City will establish jointly with Guangdong Province a photoelectronic technology transfer and trade center and a B2B photoelectronic technology e-commerce website.
