Motorola Provides Hutchison Subscribers High-speed Wireless Internet AccessMotorola Incorporated and Hong Kong's largest mobile phone operator Hutchison Telecom Wednesday announced an agreement in Hong Kong for the commercial delivery of 64bps high-speed wireless Internet access to Hutchson's over 1.4 million subscribers.At a press conference in Hong Kong during the 5th Annual CDMA (or Code Division Multiple Access technology) World Congress, Hutchison Telecom announced the award of an over 10 million US dollars contract for Motorola Network Solutions Sector's (NSS) high-speed wireless Internet access solution. Based on the cdmaOne TIA/EIA-IS-95B standard, Hutchison subscribers will be able to access the Internet at up to 64Kbps, which will be the fastest cellular phone packet data transmission service in Hong Kong. "The successful commercial launch of 64bps high-speed wireless Internet access in Hong Kong and elsewhere represents another step in Motorola's continuing global plan to provide network operators with a complete end-to-end solution for their telecommunication needs," said Bruce Duysen, senior director of Motorola NSS' Asia Pacific Customer Solutions Group. CDMA is a US-based digital wireless technology. Hutchison unveiled its world-first CDMA commercial network in 1995.
