Forum on Dali's Art Attracts Chinese

While art fans flocked to visit Salvador Dali's painting exhibition at the China Art Gallery, many Chinese young people tried to find more about the late surrealist at an academic forum organized by Qinghua University.

A Spanish art critic named Ana Beristain, professor Xi Jingzhi at Qinghua's Art School and Wang Duanting, research professor of the Academy of Arts of China, gave speeches on Dali, who has greatly influenced Chinese artists in recent decades.

"As the Chinese people widen their artistic horizons, they have come to be interested in surrealism and Dali's works," said professor Xi.

The audience also saw a surrealist movie starring Dali himself, "Un Chein Andalou".

From June 9 to 27, the Dali exhibition features 20 oil paintings and 38 sketches by the Spanish artist. He is widely regarded as one of the world's most masterful and prolific painters.

Some of his best-known works are included in the Beijing exhibition.
