There are Chinese emigrants in the two countries, Zhu said, adding that the situation of hundreds of Chinese emigrants in the Solomon Islands has been very dangerous since a military coup took place there on June 7. The Chinese government pays close attention to their demand of evacuating from the islands, and the Chinese foreign ministry has set up an emergency group and tried to do everything to help them evacuate from the islands, including seeking help from other countries, he said. He added that till now, some of them have evacuated from the islands, and the work of evacuating the rest is proceeding smoothly. The Chinese government will also do everything possible to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens in Fiji, Zhu said. |
