More Great Study Works on Tibet Demanded

A symposium on developing tibetological study was held on June 12 in Beijing. Zhao Qizheng, director of Information Office of the State Council called at the symposium for more great study works and writings with an academic value and of world influence to be created to let the world people know more about Tibet's progress made in the past few decades.

He pointed out that people going in for tibetological study should take full use of the favorable resources of historical relics and cultural records in Tibet, delve into researches and studies into Tibet's history, especially those major events and issues calling for worldwide attention.

Zhao said that since launching of reform and China's opening up tibetologists in China have by their academic study obtained plentiful substantial results. China has made remarkable progress and contributions in carrying forward Tibet's culture tradition, prospering tibetological study on Tibet and familiarizing the international community with the real situation of Tibet in guaranteeing national unity and consolidation of the nation and promoting Tibet's progress.

He hopes that China's Tibetology Research Institute can strengthen academic exchanges with other international Tibetological institutions and circles abroad, introducing their research achievements attained and Tibet's steady advances made to the world.
