Sino-US Work Safety Center Founded in Shanghai

Libery Mutual Safe Work Center, a Sino-US joint research project, has been set up in Shanghai.

The center will carry out research on prevention of occupation diseases and industrial accidents, and rehabilitation of the injured and disabled. It is to provide related training and consulting service, and recommend feasible production safety programs to the local enterprises.

The center was founded by the Medical School of Fudan University (MSFU) in Shanghai and Libery Mutual Research Center of US (LMRC).

Liang Youxin, professor with MSFU, said that due to work pressure and intense competition, people are more likely to suffer occupation diseases and accidents at work.

Officials with LMRC said that the center is great importance to Shanghai, the biggest city in China with all types of occupations.

Statistics show that over 100,000 are killed in accidents every year in China during the past few years.
