Liaoning to Host Calligraphy and Painting Festival

A calligraphy and painting festival is scheduled to be held in September in this capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province.

More than 3,000 Chinese calligraphers and painters and nearly 100 such artists from a dozen countries are expected to attend the festival, which will display more than 1,000 works of painting and calligraphy.

The festival will feature two exhibitions of more than 300 works by master painters and calligraphers in ancient times as well as in modern China, an exhibition of selections from the works of contemporary artists and a series of related activities.

The festival is jointly sponsored by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Shenyang city government and the Chinese Artists' Association.
