Chinese Vice-Premier to Attend U.N. Meeting, Visit Two European Nations

Vice-Premier Wen Jiabao will attend a United Nations meeting and visit two European countries, Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhu Bangzao made the announcement Tuesday afternoon.

Zhu told a regular press conference that Wen will lead a Chinese government delegation to attend the World Summit of Social Development and Beyond: Achieving Social Development for All in a Globalized World, a special session of the U.N. General Assembly to be held in Geneva, Switzerland, from June 26 to 30.

At the invitation of the British and Swiss governments, Wen will pay an official visit to Britain from June 20 to 25 and visit Switzerland from June 29 to July 1, according to Zhu.
