Kim Dae-jung Arrives in Pyongyang
The South's Kim landed in the capital of DPRK at 10:25 a.m.(local time) after a 67-minute flight from Seoul. Kim was met by Kim Jong-il at the airport as crowds of cheering North Koreans waving red and pink flowers lined a red carpet leading to the ROK leader's plane. The meeting, over the three days, is the first between two countries that were separated in 1948. Kim Dae-jung is accompanied by 130 businessmen and officials as well as by 50 South Korean journalists. Before leaving Seoul, Kim said the fact that the summit was taking place at all was of great significance.
