China: Trade Export

Between January and May, processing trade exports brought in over US$10 billion. The rate of export was twenty-two percent more than last year during the same period - taking up one fifth of the total exports in China.

The local government is critical to the success of processing trade. It provides the necessary environment for such an enterprise to thrive.

The high-tech industry, especially the electronic and IT industries, dominate the city's export-oriented processing trade. The main processing products for export, such as computer and telecommunication equipment, cover over thirty trades.

The thriving industry has also been instrumental in boosting technological innovation and upgrading. The local government has built a three-square kilometer zone for processing trade enterprises to further their research and export.
