Former ROK President Supports China's Western Development
Roh Tae-woo, former president of the Republic of Korea (ROK), said Sunday that he will do his best to encourage the ROK government and businesses to participate in China's western development.
In a meeting with Nie Ronggui, chairman of the Sichuan provincial committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Roh Tae-woo said that he had seen a lot of changes compared to his first trip to China eight years ago.
He said that the ROK government and business community are very much concerned about China's strategies to develop its western regions. He said that the bilateral ties between the two countries, especially the trade relations, have been progressing well since 1992.
Nie briefed the guest on developments in Sichuan Province, strategies for western development, and ROK's investment in the Province.
