IBM to Arm Small, Medium Chinese Firms with E-businessIBM will help small and medium-sized Chinese enterprises grow by way of e-business, Wu Baochun, manager of the E-business department of IBM (China) Corp. said Sunday. As a representative of IBM, Wu is currently taking part in the 2000 Trade Fair of Zhejiang province, one of China's eastern economic powerhouses, in Ningbo city. IBM pays special attention to China's small and medium-sized companies, which have developed with unbelievable speed, Wu said. Some years ago, for example, the Chinese companies of Changhong, Haier, and Chunlan were seen as small and medium-sized in IBM's eyes, but now they have grown into the nation's leaders in the fields of household appliances, Wu said. Yet, these small and medium companies usually lack efficient management, enough professionals on staff, and rarely become familiar with the rules of the game when it comes to improving performance using E-business, said Jiang Wei, manager of IBM (China) Corp. in charge of east China business. IBM's solution is a good choice for them, Jiang said, for it has already earned a sound world reputation and understands China's situation. IBM is now cooperating with domestic software-developing companies to provide E-business solutions for China's small and medium-sized enterprises, Jiang said. |
