Korean Summit Delayed by One Day: South KoreaNorth Korea has asked for a one-day delay in the historic summit between the leaders of their two countries due to technical reasons, the presidential Blue House said Sunday. The three-day summit was scheduled to begin on Monday in Pyongyang, but North Korea sent a message late on Saturday saying it needed more time to prepare, a Blue House spokesman said. "So the summit will be held from Tuesday to Thursday," the spokesman said. South Korean President Kim Dae-jung and his 180-member delegation-- including 50 South Korean journalists--were to fly directly to Pyongyang, the first South Korean flight to land in North Korea since the 1950-53 Korean War. President Kim is expected to have two to three meetings with his counterpart, Kim Jong-il, in the first face-to-face meeting of rival Korean leaders since the war of the 1950s. |
