HKPC, RTHK Join Hands to Promote EnvironmentSolar Project 2000, a program dedicated to promoting the awareness of environmental protection among Hong Kong's younger generation was launched in Hong Kong Friday.Organized jointly by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK), the Solar Project, with "protecting the earth" as its theme, aims to encourage youths to make the best use of their leisure time to serve the community at large. Sixty ambassadors were recruited by HKPC and RTHK to participate in a summer program of activities in environmental management and promotion. They will be assigned to undertake projects in the areas of indoor and outdoor air quality, waste management, environmental monitoring and pollutant emissions. In addition, the Solar Ambassadors will visit local factories and restaurants to study environmental measures undertaken by Hong Kong's industrial and services sectors. |
