New-Generation Chinese Search Engine Greets Customers

A new Chinese-language search engine has hit the Chinese market. Internet users can now complete a full- text search of over 10 million web pages in one second, according to the developer Baidu.com company.

"The concept of search engines was already introduced to China some time ago, but the country never has its own commercial Chinese full-text search technology. Baidu will promote China's own powerful search engine." said Li Yanhong, president of Baidu. com. Li obtained a Masters degree in the United States.

Dr. Xu Yong, another founder of Baidu, pointed out that the current Chinese search engines are not able to meet the demands of Internet users due to the complexities of the Chinese language and lack of advanced technical know-how.

According to Li, Baidu's new-generation search engine has been adopted by e-commerce website http://www.enet.com.cn. Another website--http://www.chinaren.com--has also started to work with Baidu.
