Chongqing-HK, Chongqing-Macao Economic Promotion Associations Established
The Chongqing-Hong Kong Association for Economic Promotion and the Chongqing-Macao Association for Economic Promotion were established on June 9.
He Guoqiang, secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, said that the formation of the two organizations shows that the economic, technological and cultural cooperation between Chongqing and Hong Kong, and Chongqing and Macao have reached a new stage of development.
Tam Pak Yuen, secretary for Economy and Finance of government of the Macao Special Administrative Region, said at the inauguration ceremony that there is a good basis for cooperation between Macao and Chongqing because Macao is a bridge connecting European countries, while Chongqing is a gateway to western China.
Howard Young, chairman of the Hong Kong Chamber for Textiles, said that people from all walks of life in Hong Kong are highly interested in the development of China's western regions, especially Chongqing.
He said Chongqing provides excellent conditions for Hong Kong businesspeople to participate in the development of western China.
Hong Kong's investments in the country's western regions involve electronics, cement and tourism.
