China Supports Indonesia's Efforts to Safeguard National Unification
The Chinese government always supports the efforts made by the
Indonesia
n government to safeguard sovereignty, territorial integrity and national unification, the Foreign Ministry said on June 9.
Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue made the remarks when commenting on the Papua National Congress of
Indonesia
declaring Papua province's independence.
"We have noted the stance of

n President Abdurrahman Wahid and the
Indonesia
n government rejecting the independence of Papua province from
Indonesia
, and opposing foreign countries' interference in this matter," She said.
