China to Launch Health, Fitness Tour in 2001China will promote its tourism in 2001 under the theme of "Health and Fitness Tour," said an official of China's National Tourism Administration (CNTA) Thursday."In the light of holding the World University Games-2001 and the bid for the Olympic Games-2008, we choose the more attractive and participatory sports activities from the grand international and national events we held and introduce them to the outside world," said Yang Wenzhen, director of CNTA's Marketing and Promotion Department. Meanwhile, such special tourism activities related to sports as rock-climbing, mountaineering, desert-exploring, traveling by bicycle, drifting and skiing will be staged to attract overseas youths and the special tour fans, said Yang, who is attending the 14th International Travel Expo Hong Kong. CNTA has decided to present one special theme of tourism each year from 2001 to 2005 so that the local tourism products and their sales promotion can be well prepared in advance, said Yang. The themes from 2002 to 2005 will respectively be FolkArts- China, Culinary Kingdom-China, Catch the lifestyle-China and Visit China -- the Third China Tourism Year. |
