Microsoft Sets up Joint Lab with Chinese UniversityMicrosoft Research China announced that the joint lab on computer-based language translation set up by Microsoft and Harbin Industrial University opened on June 8.Researchers at the joint lab will be involved in projects to develop a comprehensive bilingual dictionary and translation module, and educational software. Microsoft will fund all the research, and the results will be used jointly by the two sides. Computer-based translation has bright prospects, as the number of Chinese Internet users is increasing by 300 percent yearly, but nearly 99 percent of website information is in English.
