US, DPRK Resume Talks in Malaysia on Missing Soldiers

The United States and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) resumed talks Wednesday on finding American soldiers missing in the Korean War.

"The primary goal of these talks is to renew bilateral discussions with the Korean People's Army to achieve the fullest possible accounting of American servicemen," a statement issued by the U.S. Embassy said.

The American team from the U.S. Defense Department would seek to reach agreement on the conduct of a single, expanded joint recovery operation in areas where North Korea claimed to have disinterred four or five sets of U.S. remains, it said.

The United States hopes that the talks will lead to the fullest possible accounting of American soldiers missing in action during the Korean War, the statement said.

The US-North Korea talks are slated to go on until June 10.
