Beijing to Do Ten More Good Things For Disabled

The Beijing municipal government will do ten more good deeds for the disabled this year, according to Beijing vice-mayor Zhai Hongxiang recently.

This year's ten good things include providing free medical facilities to 200 grassroots recovery centers, training for the disabled so as to help them find jobs, distributing 3 million yuan (370,000 US dollars) of poverty-relief loans for the handicapped in rural areas and setting up an employment service center for the disabled.

Beijing has a total of 460,000 handicapped, 4.5 percent of the total population. Since 1990, the municipal government has done 10 good things for the handicapped every year.
