Anniversary of Sino-Myanmese Relations Observed

A reception was held Wednesday to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-Myanmese diplomatic relations.

Maung Aye, visiting Vice-Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council of Myanmar, and He Luli, Vice-Chairwoman of China's National People's Congress Standing Committee, attended the reception which was hosted by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC).

Chen Haosu, Vice-President of CPAFFC, said at the reception that recent years have witnessed a smooth development of bilateral ties in politics, economy, trade, science and technology.

The frequent exchanges of high-level visits has promoted the understanding and trust between the two countries, he added.

Chen said that furthering good-neighborly friendship between the two countries is not only in the interest of the two peoples, but conducive to peace and stability in Asia and the rest of the world.

Myanmese Ambassador to China U Ba Htay Chit expressed his confidence that bilateral friendly ties established by the elder generation of the two countries will be further promoted.
