A meeting was held lately in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing to demonstrate the achievements of "Rosy Dawn Project", a project launched to boost China's west development.
Co-sponsored by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and China Literature and Art Foundation, the project is a large-scale centennial activity contributing to undertakings of public welfare in China. It is aimed at helping children with artistic talents in poverty-stricken areas to go on with their school life and provide them with complete primary education and professional training. Children to be helped are mainly those from such underdeveloped areas as of Inner Mongolia, Guangxi, Sichuan, Xinjiang and Tibet in China. About 2000 children who excel for their artistic talent at age 7-15 will be selected, to whom economic help and professional training will be offered until completing their graduate study from middle school.
It is reported that helping such a child will need a sum of 6000 yuan. Up to May 30, there are already 1,008 children who have got economic help from a countrywide donation of 6048 thousand yuan made
At the report-back meeting, children representatives had put on stage many artistic pieces together with their artist benefactors. "Providing talented children with developing opportunities" is the practical significance of the "Rosy Dawn Project".
