RMB300 Billion to be Poured into Yunnan's Transportation System

The next decade will witness a vertical transportation system to be built in Yunnan, the southwest province of China.

A planned investment of 300 billion yuan will be projected for transportation system in this province, among which 180 billion will be used for the construction of expressways.

The expressway layout is "linking bordering provinces and connecting with foreign countries". To this end, there are as many as 8 important expressways to be built in the next decade, including 5 linking Sichuan, Guizhou, Guangxi and Tibet and 3 connecting with Vietnam, Myanmar and Laos.

Meanwhile, 6 current trunk highways will be restructured and thus the total span of expressways in Yunnan Province will soar up to 140 thousand kilometers.

As to water transportation, a total of 5 billion yuan will be poured into, eyeing for 10 million tons and 1.7 million annual capacity respectively for freight and passenger transportation.

According to the blueprint, the next five years will also post rapid development of civil aviation in this province and 20 billion yuan will be invested for building up of two new airports, to make airport number in Yunnan up to 12 and rank first in China. By then, the annual civil transportation capacity of passenger and cargo of Kunming airport can reach 8 million people 140 thousand tons respectively.
