China to Have 30 Million New Fixed Phone Users
China will have 30 million new fixed phone users this year, according the China Telecom.
In the January-April period, the China Telecom, China's largest fixed phone operator, witnessed an increase of 1.2 million in fixed phone users, bringing the total fixed phone users in the country to 120 million.
Zhang Jiping, vice-manager of the company, noted that the countryside still has great demand for fixed phone. During the first four months, more than a half of new users are from the countryside.
In the January-April period, the company registered a total income of 53 billion yuan, up 19.4 percent over the same period last year, in which, the central and the western parts of the country witnessed rapid development in telecom services.
The company also increased investment in fixed assets to 11.8 billion yuan in the first four months this year. Investment for the whole year is expected to reach 90 billion yuan.
