Shanghai, Hong Kong to Enhance Cooperation


Shanghai and HKSAR hand in hand
Two key economic powerhouses of China, Shanghai and Hong Kong should enhance their cooperation in a number of areas, said Shanghai Mayor Xu Kuangdi at a metropolis development symposium held in Shanghai Friday.

Tung Chee-hwa, Chief Executive of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), who attended the symposium, said that China's entry into the WTO will further improve such cooperation.

Tung also suggested that that Shanghai and Hong Kong will participate in developing China's western regions.

A total of 250 deputies from Shanghai and Hong Kong attended the Symposium.
