China Curbs Worsening of Environment

China has managed to prevent the natural environment from further worsening with environmental situation improving in part of the country, according to an official report released on June 5.

The report, titled "China Environmental Situation Bulletin 1999", also warned that the overall environmental situation in China remains rather serious as the total volume of pollutants discharged across the country stays high.

The bulletin, released here today by the State Environmental Protection Administration (SEPA), details the situation on China's water, ocean, air, noise, solid industrial waste, radiation, land resources, biodiversity, climate change and natural disasters.
