Indian President Winds Up China VisitIndian President Kocheril Raman Narayanan left Kunming for home Saturday afternoon after winding up a week-long state visit to China.Yunnan Provincial Governor Li Jiating and Chinese Ambassador to India Zhou Gang saw the president and his party off at the airport. Narayanan arrived in Kunming, capital of Yunnan in the southwest on June 1 from Dalian, a coastal city in northeast China. During his stay here, the president met with governor Li and other local officials and toured scenic spots in the city. He expressed the willingness to develop cooperation between India and Yunnan in areas such as high-technology, software, and mineral processing. Yunnan Deputy Governor Shao Qiwei and Indian Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Manohar Joshi held talks on economy and trade this afternoon, both expressing the hope to further develop cooperation. Narayanan's current visit, marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and India, is his first to China since assuming the presidency in 1997.
