State Councilor Leaves for UN Special Session on Women

State Councilor Wu Yi left Saturday for New York to attend the special session of the General Assembly of the United Nations titled Women 2000: Gender Equality, Development and Peace for the 21st Century.

Accompanying Wu on the trip includes Gu Xiulian, deputy director of the Women and Children Working Committee of the State Council and vice president of the All-China Women's Federation.

Xu Rongkai, deputy secretary general of the State Council, saw Wu and her delegation off at the airport.
