Major Ship-Building Contract Signed in Tianjin

Shipbuilding companies in the port city of Tianjin in north China recently signed their biggest contracts ever, with Denmark and South Africa, worth a combined 100 million US dollars.

According to the deal, the Tianjin Machinery Import and Export Group (TMIEG) and the Tianjin Xingang Shipyard will produce six 32, 000-ton bulk cargo ships for the Clipper Group of Denmark and the Unicorn Company of South Africa.

The TMIEG has built and rebuilt container and bulk cargo ships for Canada, Japan, Russia, Ukraine, and other countries.

The Clipper Group, with about 80 ships, is listed 18th among the world sea transport companies. The Unicorn Company deals mainly in sea, railway, and road transportation in the southern Africa
