Shanghai Mayor Meets Tung Chee Hwa

Shanghai and HKSAR hand in hand

Shanghai Mayor Xu Kuangdi met Friday with Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), who is attending a seminar on the metropolis development.

Xu briefed Tung Chee Hwa on Shanghai's rapid economic growth and the development of the Pudong New Area in the city.

Tung Chee Hwa, who is on his third visit to Shanghai since he assumed the office, said he hopes that the two metropolises will promote cooperation in economic, high-tech and financial areas, and they will achieve an even greater development in the new century.

Tung Chee Hwa addressed the opening ceremony of the seminar and visited the Shanghai Stock Exchange earlier today.
