Rapid Increase of Foreign Trade in North China Province

According to the latest statistics, north China's Hebei Province achieved 1.23 billion US dollars of export and import trade during the past five months of this year, up 23.2 percent over the same period of last year.

Analysts say that better export structure and an improved investment environment account for the foreign trade increase.

The province established relationships with more agents and dealers in the US, Europe, and Japan, who helped Hebei's products enter large shopping malls and chain stores in those countries. The province also adjusted its products in a timely fashion, according to frequent feedback from the overseas markets.

Statistics show that the export of clothing, steel, and pottery to European Union countries, the US, Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea continued to rise over the past five months.

Foreign investment reached 520 million U.S. dollars, up 23 percent over last year. Investment from the US, South Korea, and Taiwan increased by 31 percent, 21 percent and 41 percent, respectively, for the period.
