South China's Guangzhou Exports More

Guangzhou, capital of south China 's Guangdong Province, exported US$2.47 billion worth of commodities in the first four months of this year.

The volume marked a rise of 39 percent from the same period last year, according to the Guangzhou City Commission of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation. .

Light industrial and textile products such as footwear, garments, toys and minor home appliances continued to dominate the city's exports. State-owned foreign trade companies have become a prime driving force behind the city's rising exports as the country once again raised export tax rebate ratio.

Guangzhou has set a goal of scoring three percent growth in its export this year, with the volume of exports fixed above US$8.1 billion, according to local sources.
