Kim Jong Il Returns to Pyongyang After Visit to China

Leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Kim Jong Il, returned Thursday morning after a visit to China from May 29 to 31, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.

Kim, who was invited by Jiang Zemin, Chinese president and general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, had a warm meeting and held talks with Jiang, the state news agency said.

During his visit, Kim also met Li Peng, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Premier Zhu Rongji, and Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

At the talks and meetings, achievements and experience in socialist construction of the two parties and two countries were introduced and an unshakable will was manifested to further consolidate and develop the traditional DPRK-China friendship, said the KCNA report.

Kim also visited Tian'anmen, the main gate to the Forbidden City, and a computer plant of the Legend group.
