One Million Chinese Children to Join On-line Computer ContestOne million Chinese children are expected to take part in the 11th National June 1 International Children's Day On-line Computer Performance Contest to celebrate their own festival day.Li Tieying, president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, pressed a computer key to kick off the competition at a ceremony also attended by Lei Jieqiong, a former vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress. The contest, which lasts for seven months, is sponsored by eleven units including the Ministry of Information Industry, the Ministry of Education, and the All-China Women's Federation. China Telecom has offered the young contestants special prices by issuing them a special Internet card.
