Cross-Straits Anti-Earthquake Forum Opens

Cross-Straits Anti-Earthquake Forum Opens
The Cross-Straits Forum on Urban Earthquake Prevention and Disaster Relief opened this morning in Fuzhou, capital of east China's Fujian Province, which faces Taiwan across the Taiwan Straits.

More than 50 seismologists from China's mainland and Taiwan have gathered in Fuzhou to attend the two-day forum.

They will delve into such topics as earthquake prevention, the application of new and high technologies in earthquake prevention, disaster relief and rebuilding.

Both the mainland and Taiwan are frequently hit by earthquakes. Seismologists from both sides of the straits have increased cooperation and exchanges in earthquake research and prevention over the past several years.

At least four cross-Straits forums on earthquake prevention have been held in Beijing, Xi'an and Taipei.
