An earlier report said that three Russian servicemen were killed and eight wounded in the explosion. The blast happened at 7.05 a.m. local time (0305 GMT) on the city's Marshal Zhukov Avenue. A military garrison is located near the scene of the blast. The explosive device, reportedly tied to a tree, was set off at the moment when a military unit was passing nearby in formation. The independent NTV television reported that the explosion was caused by a remote-controlled landmine stuffed with metal balls. |
