Chinese Airliner Makes Emergency Landing in Japan

A Chinese airliner with 88 people on board was forced to make an emergency landing on Thursday in southern Japan after one engine failed, a Transport Ministry official said in Tokyo.

None of the 77 passengers and 11 flight crew members aboard the China Eastern Airline flight were injured, he said.

The Boeing 737, en route from Shanghai bound to Fukushima in northern Japan, made the emergency landing at Fukuoka airport in southern Japan after one of its two engines failed.

The plane later took and landed safely in Fukushima.
