Website for Kids Launched

China has launched an Internet portal for children.

The website, www.chinachildren.net.cn, was jointly launched by the Ministry of Culture, China Society for Promotion of Culture and Arts for Children, and Zhongtong Information Network Co., Ltd. in Shanghai, to mark the 16th anniversary of Deng Xiaoping's call to popularize computer knowledge among children, People Daily reported.

The website, opened on May 28, came as a special gift for Chinese children for their holiday -- the June 1 International Children's Day.

China currently has over 10 million Internet users and more and more children are getting online.
