The 2000 Economic and Trade Fair of Overseas China will be held in this capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province June 5-8, a provincial official announced on May 31.
The fair, jointly organized by the Yunnan Provincial People's Government and the Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs of the State Council, aims at promoting participation of overseas Chinese in China's national drive of speeding up development in the western part of China.
The fair's organizing committee has invited 250 investors of Chinese origin in the United States, Canada, Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and other countries who had invested heavily in the coastal areas of eastern China and 12 delegations composed of overseas Chinese in North America and Oceania. Many are representatives of prestigious transnational companies.
Yunnan will provide participants with over 80 projects covering a wide range of subjects and the businessmen are scheduled to make spot investigations in Yunnan's infrastructure, processing, high- tech, power and pharmaceutical industries.
