International Cooperation Helps Improve Children's HealthChina, with about 370 million people under the age of 17, has significantly increased international cooperation to improve children's health care over the past decades.Sources attending a national meeting held recently on child health, said the country has jointly established a great number of child health organizations with overseas hospitals, universities, research institutes, and government departments. These organizations include the Child Health Research Center, the Canada-China Child Health Foundation, and 74 children-friendly centers. These children-friendly centers in 17 Chinese provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions have brought benefits to 2. 35 million children and 1.6 million rural women since 1987. At the same time, children's hospitals in China have established sister relationships with 13 Canadian hospitals. Also, a growing number of foreign pediatricians have been invited to lecture and work in China.
