DPRK, U.S. Agree to Continue Talks on Pending Issues

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the United States have agreed to hold further talks at an early date to continue discussing pending issues between the two countries after concluding their talks in Rome, a spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.

At the vice-ministerial-level talks in Rome from May 24 to 30, the two sides discussed the pending issue of lifting economic sanctions against Pyongyang announced by Washington in 1999, the spokesman said.

The two sides also dealt with the issue of U.S. compensation for the loss of electricity caused by the delayed provision of lightwater reactors, added the spokesman.
