Summit Advance Team of ROK to Visit Pyongyang

A 30-member advance team of ROK will travel to Pyongyang through the truce village of Panmunjom at 10:00 a.m. on May 31 to make final preparations for the June 12-14 South-North summit. This was reported by our staff correspondent Wang Linchang from Seoul.

The visit by ROK government officials will be the first since the eighth meeting of South-North high-ranking officials in October of 1992.

The advance team is headed by Sohn In-kyo, who served as a delegate during preparatory talks for the summit. Sohn's delegation will transfer to vehicles provided by DPRK at the truce village of Panmunjom, then travel to their hotel in Pyongyang via the Kaesung-Pyongyang highway. The delegates will bring along communication equipment, security materials, and a portable satellite telephone.

Sohn revealed that the team will finalize President Kim Dae-jung's schedule, arrange for his accommodations while in the North and handle other details in preparation for the upcoming summit.
