Past Decade's 100 Great Archaeological Finds

China has chosen the 100 most important archaeological finds of the past decade which related to the entire history of the Chinese nation.

Since 1991, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage (SACH) and China Cultural Relics News have jointly sponsored the selection of the finds covering 27 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

At a press conference this morning, Zhang Wenbin, the SACH director, said the 100 finds are great achievements made by Chinese archaeologists, and they have greatly inspired Chinese people.

In recent decades, Chinese archaeologists have been employing advanced techniques in their surveys and excavations, and many of their finds have stunned the entire world, Zhang said.

"The ancient civilization of the Chinese people has been gaining more and more attention from scholars worldwide," Zhang said.

The selection committee consists of well-known scholars from the SACH, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Beijing University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Museum of Chinese History, and the Palace Museum, including late archaeologist Su Bingqi, professor Su Bai, and researcher Xu Pingfang.

In addition, China Cultural Relics News will publish an article on the 100 finds this year, providing comprehensive information for scholars and the general reader.
